It’s a beautiful Ohio summer day. They don’t happen all the often but when they do there is nothing better than a summer afternoon in Ohio.
I did the free
workout this morning at 9A.
The skill for today was Turkish Get Up’s so I had that in the bag.
The WOD (Workout of the Day) was:
5 Pull Ups
10 Push Ups
15 Air Squats
AMRAP (as many reps as possible) in 20 minutes
I got 10 sets done. I got the least in the class. The highest was a young girl that came in with 18 sets.
I am ok with my 10 because I worked my ass off. My heartrate was 150-155 for 20 minutes. I don’t let it go above that. My actual target rate is 140-145.
I am happy with my performance. The majority of the class is 20-30 year olds. I am doing fine for an old fart. I would rather be able to function within a group of 20-30 year olds, even if my performance was not at the top of the pack, than be the leader in a group of people my age. It’s great to be in a group of people that are not focused on what hurts or does not work anymore. That means I don’t have the opening to talk about how much my hips hurt or about how I have to get up all night to pee or all the other things that come with age. I really believe we tend to act and become like the people we surround ourselves with, so, I am surrounding myself with young people that are interested in their health and fitness.
Dave the Trainer has suggested that I not provide my feedback to him until after the Monday Workout of the Day. That way he will know what I focused on and take that into account for the workouts he provides for Tuesday-Thursday. Hopefully this will help me hold out for the entire week and not be too tired by the time Thursday comes.
Debbie moved Aunt Mary to Rocky Knoll yesterday. The situation with Aunt Mary becomes more and more of a challenge each day.
