Woke up to several inches of snow. Streets were covered and plows and salt trucks were out. Made it to Crossfit without trouble. There are two hills that I have to get up on the way that always cause me concern but they were no problem today.

Ron, Tom and myself for class this morning.

We practiced Dead lifts and over head squats.

WOD
7 Dead Lift (95 lbs, up 30 pounds from last time)
14 Over Head Squat
21 Weighted Set Up

5 rounds for time

Ron (mutant)
Terry (about 14:00)
Tom (newbie)

Once Brian updates the website I can grab the exact times and update this post. It was right around 14 minutes.

After the WOD we played around with the slosh pipe and I mentioned a video I saw using a slosh pipe while doing a Turkish Get Up. We all tried it an it actually worked on the first try. The pipe in this video is 55 lbs. Not sure of the exact weight of the slosh pipe we were using. When making your own slosh pipe you can control the weigh by the amount of water you fill it with.

It looks easy but remember that the pipe has 55 lbs of water sloshing back and forth with every movement you make. A gallon of water weights 8.34 pounds so there is between 6 and 7 gallons in this pipe.

Slosh pipes are fun. Just a PVC pipe with water inside and capped at the ends. Want to make one for yourself? Here’s how.

It’s like the guys that can take a sledgehammer, slowly lower it towards their face and then lift it back up.

It looks easy but you could wind up with a broken nose.

  • I agree with Heather never heard of it but then again most people probably have never heard of a potato gun either long story we had snow today too not enough for salt trucks and plows though. sounds like your having fun

  • [...] year ago we had a heavy snow. Nice and dry today. I also looked at the workout for one year ago and it called for 7 deadlifts at 95 pounds! Talk about change! Today I would not be able to get [...]

Fight Gone Bad 5
What is a baby boomer?
People born between (and including) 1946 and 1964. After American soldiers returned home from World War II in1946, the United States experienced an explosion of births (hence the name baby boom) that continued for the next 18 years, when the birth rate began to drop. In 1964, baby boomers represented 40% of the population, which means that more than one third of the population was under 19 years of age. In the 1990s, approximately 76 million people in the United States were born in the baby boom years, representing approximately 29% of the country's population. Since baby boomers make up such a sizable portion of the consuming public, their spending habits and lifestyles have a powerful influence on the economy.
