Very cold this morning. At Crossfit at 9A for the Saturday class. Eric, Chris, Terry, Ron, Alex, Monique, and two new people, Brian and Phil. Brian did the coaching. Charlie was also there having just completed his individual workout session with Brian so he helped Brian out.
This mornings workout seemed quite brutal for everyone. I went between 30 lb and 15 pound dumbbells on the Hanging Dumbbell squats. No way I could sustain the total 60 pound weight of two dumbbells for the entire set.
WOD:
- 5 Minutes of Hanging Dumbbell Squats
5 Minutes of Push Ups
-1 minute rest
3 Minutes of Hanging Dumbbell Squats
3 Minutes of Push Ups
-1 minute rest
1 minute Hanging Dumbbell Squats
1 minute of Push Ups
This was not one of my favorite workouts but no one promised it would be easy or something I always liked.
In the afternoon I went to the Toys for Tots bowling fundraiser the Jerry had put together. By that time it has started to snow hard and the roads were becoming slippery. We had unlimited bowling for 2 hours. I guess there might have been about 20 of us between Crossfit people and others. Seemed to be a lot of Goodyear people.
Brian brought his 3 boys and Chris from the gym came. Brian had his boys play on his game so it was fun to watch them try to get a ball down the alley. Chris was able to come out the winner over Brian and his boys…..but it was close.
As it ended up I bowled with Jerry. Since Jerry is a superhuman mutant in Crossfit I assumed that my fate was sealed, having not bowled for probably 20 years or more I would be left in his bowling dust. Even when I did bowl many years ago I was no good.
I have to assume that Jerry was just having a really off day because I beat him not only once….but twice in row. I did end the event feeling mentally good, even though my back was killing me. It was interesting that as hard as I work out, two solid hours of bowling really did a job on my back.

I made it home through the snow and once I got home I was so tired I could hardly stand upright. It had been a long stressful week at work, 6 Crossfits, no sugar and the bowling. I crawled into bed at 7PM and fell right asleep and had a good night sleep.
It’s Sunday morning now as we are covered in snow again. I need to dig out the driveway and I still have not been able to get to the leaves. Maybe they will just have to stay there until next spring. I also have to get my shavenheadz video out today.
[...] One Year Ago—On Saturday one year ago it started snowing in the early afternoon. Brian, his boys, Chris and I participated in Jerry’s Toys for Tots bowling fund raiser. I really enjoyed that afternoon because I beat Jerry at bowling. It felt good. [...]
