At Crossfit for 6AM class with Eric and Tom with Brian coaching. Feeling much better and more energized than yesterday.

We worked on Pistols for our skill. I have to remember to be patient with myself. When we started I could not even get close to the correct position with assistance however, with a little time things started to loosen up and I could do better. Pistol’s are something that will require a long period of work to accomplish.

We had a choice of WOD today. Eric chose workout #2 that included ring dips and pistols. Those are two areas of focus for Eric. Tom and I did workout #1, “Cindy”. Click on the thumbnail picture for details.

Cindy is a girl named Crossfit workout consisting of 5 Pull Ups, 10 Push Ups and 15 Squats for as many rounds as possible within 20 minutes. Here is my Cindy Personal Record history.

History of “Cindy” PR’s”
August 3, 2008 = 10
October 31, 2008 = 14
January 30, 2009 = 15
March 12, 2009 = 19 +3 squats

Another lesson learned today on how our mind impacts our success. I looked at my previous record of 15 on the board prior to starting but somehow in my mind I changed that to 17. There was a 17 on the board for Eric’s PR and I may have heard someone say 17 as we were getting ready to begin. Regardless, as we started I had the number 17 in my head and it stuck with me.

As we worked through the workout I was feeling good and able to move at a steady pace. As I approached the 17 mark I was excited because I knew that anything after that was gravy for my PR. I got my 18 and then 19 and tried to finish the 20th. Charlie was counting me down. I needed about 15 more seconds to complete the 20th so I ended up with 19. I was really happy with that, thinking that I had improved from 17 to 19.

As we discussing our performance following the workout I commented that I felt really good going from 17 to 19 and Brian pointed out that I actually went from 15 to 19. I had to go back to the board to confirm that.

That experience just cased me to wonder if the outcome would have been different if I had the real number 15 in my mind as the one to beat.

Tom got to meet pukey ouside. They has a nice long conversation.

What hurts today?—Left forearm aching depending upon position. Right knee aching when setting. Feels fine when standing.

Eating—Eating continues good. Anxious to see 1-2 pounds down on Monday’s weigh in.
