CrossFit at 6AM with Steve, Carl, Dave and Eric with Brian coaching.

Today finishes up our week of “named” workouts. After today’s WOD, as Steve and I were on the floor to recover, we were saying this was the worse week ever. I then recalled we were laying in the same spot saying the exact same thing last Friday. Brian continues to push the entire box forward and we are keeping up.

Had fun with a bit of a challenge between Eric and I on the Randy WOD. I am just glad that neither of us are competitive or this could get ugly. We faced off across from each other and had talked about a strategy of 3 sets of 25 to get the 75 Snatches done. That strategy quickly fell apart. I stopped at 25 but Eric kept going. Eric kept up a steady pace, I don’t know if he actually stopped at all during the entire 75. I ended up with more of a sprint type approach after the initial 25, doing 10 or so really quickly and then resting. I know I lose time in resting but I do watch the clock and set a time I have to start again so I don’t stand there all day. I think it would be really fun sometime to do the same WOD but for each of us to have counters so we could both know exactly where the other was. Eric was done about 25 seconds before me.

I still need a lot of work on technique. Some reps I simply accomplish through brute force. I need to use my arms and hips in the correct way to be more efficient.

Carl was a young ninja mutant this morning and Dave and Steve pushed hard all the way through. It was a fun morning and a good end to the week.

Here is the LAPD doing Randy. If you go to the end you will see Josh Everett doing “Randy” in 2:42. Impressive to say the least.

There is a free Saturday class tomorrow so this will be a 6 WOD week.

Eating—On track. Looking for new things to add to my plan. Got on the scale. Still stuck on 248. I did get several comments this week about being more lean so my body is changing. Apparently 248 is the perfect weight for me today. As long as I keep improving my eating and workout plan whatever the scale says is the right weight for me that day.

What hurts today—Did not sleep much last night. If anyone asks what I would like it would be one night of a full 8 hours sleep. Other than the tender back right heel I am feeling good.

  • Steve Bell:

Congratulations on doing all five of the workouts this week. It was a monumental challenge to every muscle group. It is great to be in class with everyone else trying to push through the wall at the same time.

    See you Monday.

Fight Gone Bad 5
What is a baby boomer?
People born between (and including) 1946 and 1964. After American soldiers returned home from World War II in1946, the United States experienced an explosion of births (hence the name baby boom) that continued for the next 18 years, when the birth rate began to drop. In 1964, baby boomers represented 40% of the population, which means that more than one third of the population was under 19 years of age. In the 1990s, approximately 76 million people in the United States were born in the baby boom years, representing approximately 29% of the country's population. Since baby boomers make up such a sizable portion of the consuming public, their spending habits and lifestyles have a powerful influence on the economy.
