What is a baby boomer?

People born between (and including) 1946 and 1964. After American soldiers returned home from World War II in1946, the United States experienced an explosion of births (hence the name baby boom) that continued for the next 18 years, when the birth rate began to drop. In 1964, baby boomers represented 40% of the population, which means that more than one third of the population was under 19 years of age. In the 1990s, approximately 76 million people in the United States were born in the baby boom years, representing approximately 29% of the country's population. Since baby boomers make up such a sizable portion of the consuming public, their spending habits and lifestyles have a powerful influence on the economy.

Really had to push myself to get up this morning and I had a headache but this turned out to be one of my better WOD’s in while.

Old guys driving big carsThe lunges were really bad for the first 3 rounds but by the 4th I was actually able to do them with good form. It takes that long for my hips to loosen up.

I probably should be doing a lot more lunges.

I apparently was moving a bit so slow so everyone created a passing lane to get by me.

The KB cleans and snatches were no issue. I just go on auto pilot for those. Overall a fun workout and my headache was gone by the time we were done.

This was our last Thursday workout in the little box. Moving day is tomorrow.

Here is a map for the new box location.

Have you seen this video of the 5 year old kid from Romania?

Is this good for the long term health the development of this 5 year old? What’s the Dad saying? Why can’t I do these things?

Eating—Not doing well. I think the problem is that I have a blood test scheduled for tomorrow. Although it makes no sense I often find that prior to having my blood work done I usually go off plan which is the exact opposite of what I should do. Another word for it would be self sabotage.

Will have to fast tonight for 14 hours prior to the blood test in the morning.

What hurts today—Feeling good over all. Still a big issue with the right elbow. I did have a bad headache last night and this morning. I think I can pin that on sugar, having gone off my paleo plan the last few days. No back pain from the deadlifts yesterday and my hips are feeling good after all the lunges this morning.

  • I’m right there with you on the pass lane. I was “driving” on the right side of the road looking for a rest stop! lol. Its amazing that even though I know I am getting better and stronger a workout like this can still kick my tail, and I’m not just talking about being tired after it, but being back on the ground begging for every breath of air, wishing I was dead, tail kicking tired. But I feel great now.

  • Brandon,

It took a long time for me to get to the point where I can just keep going on workouts like todays WOD.

You will get better at pushing yourself with time. Also, you are still learning things like the KB clean and snatch. Once you perfect the technique you will be more efficient.

    No more DNF for you.

    Terry

i’m still tired from this morning.

I wouldn’t be surprised if (regarding the video of the kid) that wasn’t somewhat normal in gymnast-focused families around the globe… I bet it happens with those kids more than we realize. While I’m not defending that type of work for a young child, I’m glad his workouts seem more functionality oriented, as opposed to just strictly body building…

hmmmm…. super radical gymnastics training? (5 year old)
