What is a baby boomer?

People born between (and including) 1946 and 1964. After American soldiers returned home from World War II in1946, the United States experienced an explosion of births (hence the name baby boom) that continued for the next 18 years, when the birth rate began to drop. In 1964, baby boomers represented 40% of the population, which means that more than one third of the population was under 19 years of age. In the 1990s, approximately 76 million people in the United States were born in the baby boom years, representing approximately 29% of the country's population. Since baby boomers make up such a sizable portion of the consuming public, their spending habits and lifestyles have a powerful influence on the economy.

I enjoy this type of WOD. The different movements means there might be something I am quick at. That rarely happens, but it could.

I worked really hard on the Ring Dips. My right arm and shoulder are both feeling good so I have a lot more power. I also did a lot better with push ups in our warm up this morning. Like everything else I have no idea why those things were not hurting this morning, just glad they were not.

I truly hate the Turkish Get Up. They are the best movement for me to do but at the same time, the one I hate the most. I really spent a long time getting them done.

I did box steps again. My heels don’t need the stress of jumps right now.

There is an interesting discussion going on at Crossfit.com on the affiliate board regarding a “Masters Division” for competition. Many different opinions. Many people seem to feel there is a need for an age based division, many indicating 40 is a good age to cut off. Some feel 50, others 55. Some other even suggest a “Masters” and a “Senior Masters” division.

What should be the age limit of a masters event in CrossFit? For swimming, the term “Masters” starts at age 18, but in professional golf, the starting age for seniors is 50. Or is the concept of a CrossFit Masters event ridiculous? Would you watch one? Would you participate in one?

What hurts today—Same stuff. Tired of talking about it.

One year ago—Looking back on entries from one year ago the snow had started and the plows and salt trucks were moving this week. This year the sun is shining and it is in the mid 50’s this week while people rake leaves.
