CrossFit at 6AM. Last night we were getting some “raining ice”. Fortunately the temp did not fall during the night and we did not wake up to a world covered in ice. High winds forecasted for today with dropping temps.

Did my 31 burpees for 100 days of burpees. Then I got to do 30 more burpees as part of the warm up. You just can’t have too many burpees. The warm up called for inverted burpees but I passed on those.

For the WOD my thrusters were push presses and in order to keep moving fast enough I had to take the box down to about 10 inches to do box steps. I could not get myself up on the 20″ box fast enough this morning.

I am just keeping the faith that one of these mornings I will wake up and my hips will have settled down.

Brian made the official announcement of a CrossFit Olympic Weightlifting Certification to be held at Crossfit Legacy on April 10-11, 2010.

Undecided at this point if I will participate. It’s a great opportunity to do this type of thing so close to home but it might be more than I should try to chew off.

Had my second self defense class last night. I have really enjoyed the first two. The Sunday and Tuesday class is all hands on in a small group. Both Sunday and Tuesday have the same instructor and I enjoyed his instruction. Thursday night is the 3rd weekly class. There is a different instructor and the format is different on Thursdays, from what I have been told. I am going to try that class out and then determine if I will have 2 or 3 classes a week.

Eating—Still no comment

What hurts today—Just the usual, hips and heels.

One Year Ago—This was a really good day. First time for CrossFit Total. I got a 715.

Your killing me! I am still trying to get the basic movements down and then you go and post this Inverted Burpee thing. It can be really depressing to be old and fat with all these young fit guys around.

It’s cool that you are doing the self defense classes. They can be a lot of fun and I think your crossfit training will truly shine. Bad guys typically prey on the week and nothing about you says week.

    Stay well and be safe.

    • David,

      Thanks for the nice comment.

Inverted Burpees are something that I will just dream about but this morning Tomas, Joe, Eric and Ron were pumping them out like they knew what they were doing.

It can be intimidating to be working around young guys when you know you will never be able to do the things they do but the upside to that is the respect you can get by consistently doing your best. They recognize that and will push and pull you along with them rather than push you to the side. It’s a cool thing.

What I have done with CrossFit gave me the confidence to start the self defense classes.

      Stay strong,

      Terry

How is your sister in law doing? How long have you been doing Crossfit now? I just saw an article that the newest things in fitness for 2010 is going to be these things called Kettlebells. Boy you were ahead of the times!

    • It’s been over a year with CrossFit. Kettlebells are a big component in CrossFit so I get the best of both worlds. I am a forward thinker.

Debbie’s sister is in a nursing home now. The future is very uncertain at this point. Thanks for asking.

      Stay strong,

      Terry

Fight Gone Bad 5
What is a baby boomer?
People born between (and including) 1946 and 1964. After American soldiers returned home from World War II in1946, the United States experienced an explosion of births (hence the name baby boom) that continued for the next 18 years, when the birth rate began to drop. In 1964, baby boomers represented 40% of the population, which means that more than one third of the population was under 19 years of age. In the 1990s, approximately 76 million people in the United States were born in the baby boom years, representing approximately 29% of the country's population. Since baby boomers make up such a sizable portion of the consuming public, their spending habits and lifestyles have a powerful influence on the economy.
