Whiteboard 2-3-2010

CrossFit at 6AM. Light dusting of snow.

I felt good about the WOD this morning. My one disappointment is in my pull ups. I simply cannot do 15 regular pull ups so I have to go to jumping pull ups. Of course, once I ever do get to 15 regular pull ups I will be disappointed because they are not chest to bar pull ups so the frustration will continue. I just tried pacing myself with Dave R who usually does well on this type of WOD and I came in just a bit behind him.

I did not do any box jumps but did box steps. I continue to avoid jumping when ever possible to see if that will help with my heels/ankles.

Will, Joe H and Eric went in a separate heat and did chest to bar pull ups. Will smoked that with his fast row and ability to do rapid chest to bar pull ups.

After the WOD Steve and I worked on getting up on the rings. We were both able to do that multiple times. I can’t do any dip, the moment I break the elbow lock I have I go down but just getting up there is a big deal.

Enjoyed self defense class last night. We have now moved to using helmets with the sticks. The helmet I used was just a bit to small for my massive skull so we are looking for an extra large helmet. Any ex hockey players out there with exceptionally large heads that wants to get rid of an old helmet?

We also started working with a smaller 6 inch stick held in the fist for close contact.

Eating—On track. Still holding at 242. This is the hard part for me, just holding on until I see another big loss. Historically I may go 1 to 2 weeks without any loss and then drop 5-7 pounds. The price of grapes has dropped so I am adding more of them into my diet. Grapes are one of my favorite fruits.

What hurts today—I slept like a log last night and did not wake until the alarm went off. My heels/ankles felt better today than they have for a while. Still staying away from any jumping activities.

Because Team Two had only two members what ever score was earned for box or push (depending upon which was done) was applied to the other movement. For example, if 50 Box Jumps were done the team was given credit for 50 Push Ups for that round.

Fight Gone Bad 5
What is a baby boomer?
People born between (and including) 1946 and 1964. After American soldiers returned home from World War II in1946, the United States experienced an explosion of births (hence the name baby boom) that continued for the next 18 years, when the birth rate began to drop. In 1964, baby boomers represented 40% of the population, which means that more than one third of the population was under 19 years of age. In the 1990s, approximately 76 million people in the United States were born in the baby boom years, representing approximately 29% of the country's population. Since baby boomers make up such a sizable portion of the consuming public, their spending habits and lifestyles have a powerful influence on the economy.
