The snow came during the night and covered us with many inches of snow.

It was a big disappointment because there was no way I could get out to go to the box to watch the CrossFit Legacy Sectional Warm Ups that were going on this morning.

That did not stop me from getting in a free Saturday WOD.

Similar to virtual shoveling I call it “Real Shoveling”, 80 feet X 20 feet X 12 inches deep for time.

I have to admit I broke this up into two rounds of about an hour each. I was dressed appropriately and it was quite warm outside with no wind blowing and the sun was bright. On occasion I would even remove the protective covering from my solar energy collector dome to get some vitamin D.

The big winter shovel is always a test of my endurance and the benefit from CrossFit. While I imagine that many guys my age can get out and shovel for a couple of hours and live through it I bet they would feel much worse for wear tomorrow. This couple of hours of shoveling is not going to give me a sore back. Well, not any more sore than my back always is. I will not be hobbling around with sore legs or arms.

Shoveling snow is what my body is made for. Lifting heavy things and carrying them for long periods at a steady rate is one of my best skills. I believe my ability to do this is a direct result of my hard work at CrossFit.

Hopefully the plow trucks will come by during the night to do the street and of course, pile snow back into the driveway entry.

Eating—On track. Hoping that I hold even from last week on Monday’s weigh in. A pound or so loss would be great but not counting on it. It’s about time for me to stall even though I am eating on track.

What hurts today—I was surprised that my ankles were hurting again today. They felt really good yesterday. I can’t come up with any cause and effect. My headache is gone.

One Year Ago—We had a heat wave on Saturday a year ago. It was 44 degrees.

Fight Gone Bad 5
What is a baby boomer?
People born between (and including) 1946 and 1964. After American soldiers returned home from World War II in1946, the United States experienced an explosion of births (hence the name baby boom) that continued for the next 18 years, when the birth rate began to drop. In 1964, baby boomers represented 40% of the population, which means that more than one third of the population was under 19 years of age. In the 1990s, approximately 76 million people in the United States were born in the baby boom years, representing approximately 29% of the country's population. Since baby boomers make up such a sizable portion of the consuming public, their spending habits and lifestyles have a powerful influence on the economy.
